Sunday Grenadier Island Style Fried Chicken Dinner
...A River tradition for over 60 years... and if you have never had one of these dinners, you'll never qualify to be a "River Rat!"

It originated in a small riverside farmhouse on Canada's Grenadier Island in the mid 1940's. The Hefferman family became famous along the river for their Sunday afternoon fried chicken dinners. They were served family style, on oil cloth table cloths on the porch of their farm house. When they retired, the farm and Sunday dinners were carried on by the Allen family until the early 1970's, when they sold the farm and retired.

In 1978, after some prodding by customers who enjoyed a stop on their Sunday afternoon boat rides but now in need of a "destination," we picked up the ball. Our fresh, tender chicken is dusted with our own special coating of herbs and spices and deep fried to a golden brown. It is served with homemade baking powder biscuits, whipped potato, homemade gravy and fresh corn on the cob, just like the Hefferman's and Allens did 60 years ago. According to Mrs. Allen, who came in to check it out, it's ..."almost" the same. (Spoken like a true chef!)

A 1000 Islands "River Rat" Adventure

"Millionaire's" Day in the Islands
Your day of adventure begins with a hearty breakfast of your choice at the Inn, followed by your 8:30 A.M. departure from the Clayton docks, just across the street. You will cruise on your privately chartered boat with your own private captain, tour guide and chef at your beck and call. After a 90 minute cruise down the Seaway channel, exploring the many historical sites and the luxurious summer homes along famous "Millionaire's Row," you will land at Boldt Castle for a complete tour of the island and buildings.
From the castle you will soon enter Canadian waters further exploring the rivers more remote areas and see some of the former Canadian "hide-aways" of some of America's most prestigious families, pristine Canadian National Parks and numerous summer homes and a touch of the region's Canadian "wilderness."
No personal identification is needed as we won't be landing in Canada.
Your cruise then leads you back into U.S. waters to our island retreat where your guide will prepare a famous 1000 Islands Shore Lunch   for your group. After "lunch" a short ride back to Clayton will get you back to the dock around 3:30 P.M. You might have a "hankering" for a light dessert around 9 P.M.!
Priced per person in a party of four. Fifth through Eighth guests, please add $75.00 each.
