Around
the world, the
St. Lawrence River is known as North
America's premier muskie fishing destination.
Not only does it
hold
one of only two natural strains of North American muskies left, but it
holds the largest of the two. There are no stocked muskies in the St.
Lawrence River. They are 100% natural. Where every fresh water angler
wants to land a muskie, the lifetime goal of true muskie hunters is to
catch and land a St. Lawrence River muskie.
There is no better time to plan a fall muskie hunt in the 1000 Islands than during October. It is in October that the river cools down. The cooling waters indicate the coming of winter and turn muskies into eating machines as they try to accumulate a heavy layer of fat to carry them through the lean months of winter. And as a wise fisherman once said, "there isn't any fish easier to catch then a hungry one." Although muskies are caught during the summer, they are very lathargic at that time of year and eat at their convenience. While November can be a productive month, unfortunately the weather has a tendency to be very unpredictable and days of fishing are very often lost to high winds. They don't call them the "gales of November" because they come in December! For planning a muskie hunt well in advance, you can best depend on October for cool waters and reliable weather.
The Fall
Muskie Hunt includes 2 days of guided
fishing for trophy muskies. Fishing begins daily with our 7:45 A.M.

included in the

two hearty lunches served on board the boat. For your comfort, the boat
cabin is enclosed and heated on chilly days.
